So im rebloggin stuff on my cousins blog. I just realised that we pretty much have our own language here. So here’s a tumblr dictionary for Lexie.

Fandom: It’s what it says on the tin. A group of fans of something. Like Whovians are the Dr Who fandom and Sherlockians are the Sherlock Holmes fandom (yes, every version of him)

OTP: One true pairing. Used in fandoms to describe what characters you would like to see as a couple the most.

Ship: A pair of characters that you would like to see as a couple.

Troll: Someone who deliberatly posts messages or says things that are going to cause arguments and disruption (the urban dictionary definition is helpful)

One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup ormessage board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument

For example Stephen Moffat, who likes to taunt Whovians and Sherlockians because we have to wait till late this year /early next year for the next series/s

IRL: This just stands for In Real Life. Self explanitory really.

Canon: Something that’s been proven to be true in the books or tv show or film. For example, Arwen (see below) because Arthur and Gwen had to get married to stick to the canon set by the original Arthurian legends.

Headcanon: something which isn’t mentioned in the actual tv show/ books/ film, but that people believe or want to be canon.

And these might be helpful for your Merlin stuff:

Merthur: some people ship Merlin and Arthur. As in they reckon they should go out.

Brolin: This is an IRL ship of Bradley James (Arthur) and Colin Morgan (Merlin)

Arwen: The canon ship of Arthur and Guinivere.

Mergana: Some people also ship Morgana and Merlin.

There’s loads more, but i’ve forgotten them all. If you see something that you don’t understand, urban dictionary is a life saver. Seriously Lexie, try it. I did and now I know everything! IN THE WORLD!! EVER!! Sorry, i’m nuts when i’m on tumblr…
